Delft University in Holland Collapsed World Trade Center Style
|
May 2008 - The architecture faculty in Delft University caught on fire and collapsed after it was left burning all night under fire brigade supervision.
The fire was started by a short circuit in a coffee machine on the sixth floor, it quickly spreaded upwards through the entire building.
Over 40,000 books, drawings, models and furniture, described as "the most important architectural collection in Holland" were destroyed.

7.8R Earthquake Hits Sichuan China killing Over 12,000 People
|
An earthquake measured 7.8 on the Richter scale hit China yesterday killing at least 12000 people. Schools suffered particularly in the quake as it happened in the afternoon during school hours.
[picture] A three-storey school building in Chengdu collapsed during the earthquake, around 1000 children were buried in the rubble.
